Category: Expansion for wallet game

Set the game up as normal, shuffling the Frod deck separately. Player turns proceed as normal. Both the human player and Frod use a new layout, placing their exhausted fish in a column and their available fish in a row next to it, to help clarify Frod’s abilities and fishing attempts.

On Frod’s turn, he will always use one ability from the previous turn’s strategy card, if possible. Next, reveal a new strategy card to guide Frod’s fishing decisions. Then he fishes, catching the single largest fish he can using his available strength. Lastly, he’ll move a fish from one shoal to another.

Game end and scoring follow the core game rules, with the exception that Frod never takes a penalty for Foul fish. Outscore Frod to win the competition!

Honestly, I was skeptical about how much a simple layout change could matter, but the separate Frod deck shuffle keeps things way more tense than the base game. Setting up the column for exhausted fish is a small tweak that makes the whole flow feel cleaner and quicker.

I was a little worried the new Frod layout would slow things down, but the separate shuffling actually keeps the tension high without breaking the flow. Setting up that exhausted-fish column changes how I think about every single play, and it’s made the base game feel brand new again.

The exhausted-fish column layout is such a clever twist, it really changes how I plan each turn without breaking the flow of the base game. Setting up the Frod deck separately took me a minute to get used to, but now it feels like a whole new challenge. I’ve played this expansion more times in one w
