Category: Wallet Game

Coming from an era full of fads such as using tear catchers to determine the length of mourning, Tussie-Mussie is based on the Victorian fad that assigned meanings to the flowers that friends and lovers exchanged.

Famous authors such as William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, and Emily Bronte all utilized the meaning of flowers in their writings, and now you can experience the language of flowers in this newest wallet game from Wingspan designer Elizabeth Hargrave, artist Beth Sobel, and Button Shy Games. Also available is a Flower Shoppe solo expansion by Mike Mullins.

Featuring I-Split-You-Choose drafting, players draw 2 cards and offer one face-up and another face-down to their neighbor. The neighbor takes their choice and the active player receives the other. After everyone has 4 cards, face-down cards are revealed and everyone scores their collection. After 3 rounds the scores are totaled to determine a winner!

Expansion Collection - 3 new expansions that can be added to both the multiplayer and solo game (Orange Flowers, Greenery and Ribbons) all packed in a special wallet. This is not a standalone game, the base game is required to play.

Button Shy hand assembled games are labeled for ages 14+.

I was hesitant about another expansion, but this one layers so much extra strategy onto the base game that it feels brand new. The way the new flower meanings complicate your choices for the next round is genuinely clever, and it’s become my go-to pick for game night.

The little cards detailing each flower’s meaning are such a clever nod to the Victorian theme, and they add a nice layer of strategy without slowing down a round. We’ve already played it a dozen times since it arrived, and it slots perfectly into the original game.

Adding these expansions turned my little wallet game into something my group actually asks to replay, mostly because the new flower cards give you way more bidding options each round. Only gripe is the rulebook doesn't explain a couple of the new symbols very clearly, so we had to house-rule one car
